Wild Roots Rising - Return to Appalachia

Nov 7-9, 2025

This retreat isn’t about becoming something new. It’s about remembering what you already are.

Feeling the call to reconnect to the land and yourself?

Nestled in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains, this primitive camping retreat is a soul-deep invitation to return to your roots. Beneath golden leaves and beside a flowing creek, we gather for three days of fireside connection, breathwork, storytelling, and embodied remembrance. Together we’ll share meals, circle under the stars, and strip away distractions to reconnect, with the Earth, each other, and the ancient wisdom that still hums in these hills.

If you feel the pull of something sacred and simple…

this retreat is for you.

  • What to Expect

    • Morning Breathwork & Lymphatic Drainage – Gentle creekside practices to awaken the body and attune to nature’s rhythm

    • Fireside Satsang Circles – Heart-centered evenings of storytelling and shared wisdom, co-led by Aging Heroes

    • Seasonal, Local Meals – Appalachian-inspired food crafted by CIA-trained chef Jessica Stokes, using fresh, farm-sourced ingredients

    • Ancestral Connection Rituals – Root into your lineage through guided reflection, quiet ceremony, and communion with the land

    • Creek Immersions – Cold plunges, barefoot grounding, and wild connection in flowing mountain waters

    • Foraging Walks – Learn to identify and gather native plants, reconnecting with traditional food and medicine ways

    • Baking Cobbler & Bread Over Fire Workshop – Embodied kitchen magic, shared by the flames

    • Sewing & Mending Workshop – Slow stitching as ritual, breathing new life into worn or beloved fabrics

    • Free Time – Space to rest, wander, journal, or offer your own gifts if called

    • Local Teas & Herbal Offerings – Wildcrafted infusions to nourish the heart, body, and spirit

    • Primitive Camping Experience – Sleep under the stars or in a tent you bring or borrow, close to the Earth and sky

This retreat is off-grid, screen-free, and alcohol-free, allowing you to fully return to presence.

Designated moments to check in with loved ones will be available if needed,

but the invitation is to unplug, unwind, and remember what’s real.

  • We’ll be gathering on sacred, storied land between the peaceful woods of Nantahala National Forest in Cherokee County — a place held in reverence by the Cherokee, Yuchi, and Miccosukee peoples, who have called this place home for over 10,000 years. Owl Creek Farm Resort offers us not just a space to stay, but a place to remember, surrounded by the healing rhythm of forest, creek, and fire.

This is a primitive camping experience — but that doesn’t mean you can’t be cozy. Whether you bring your own setup or borrow one from us, you’re invited to make your space as lush and layered as you’d like:

    • Tent Camping or Overlanding – Sleep under the stars or in your vehicle-based setup. If you don’t have your own gear, you can rent a tent, sleeping pad, and sleeping bag for $25 extra.

    • Compost Toilets – Clean and eco-conscious, located just a short walk from camp.

    • Hot Showers – Yes, there’s hot water (you’ll be grateful in November!).

    • Make It Cozy – Bring your own bedding, quilts, blow-up mattress, or favorite pillows from home. Warmth is key, so layer up and nestle in. A simple sleeping bag works too — we’ll guide you on how to stay warm when you register.

There are no indoor lodging options at this retreat — we’ll be sleeping close to the Earth, under sky and stars, in true connection with the land and each other.

    • 3 seasonal, farm-to-table meals per day, sourced locally and prepared with love by Chef Jessica B. Stokes (CIA-trained). Meals will be hearty, nourishing, and rooted in Appalachian tradition. Totaling 6 meals.

    • Daily sunrise pranayama + gentle movement practice focused on lymphatic drainage, breath, and grounding.

    • Opening and closing ceremonies led with reverence, firelight, and intention.

    • Fireside tea ceremonies each evening, inviting stillness, connection, and warmth.

    • Retreat photography + documentation by WanderKin Photography. You’ll receive a gallery of candid, heartfelt moments captured throughout the weekend.

    • An intentional gift bag including handmade, practical, and meaningful tools for your journey—during and after the retreat.

    • Communal satsang + sharing circles around the fire each night.

    • Surprise offerings + co-created moments (because magic happens when we gather).

    • 2 nights / 3 days of sacred Appalachia lodging

    You’ll choose between:

    • Tent Camping – Bring your own gear and create your cozy forest nest. Or, for just $25, you can rent a full setup that includes a tent, sleeping bag, and sleeping pad.

    • Overlanding – Set up your rig however you like. All vehicle-based camping is welcome

  • This retreat takes place at Owl Creek Farm Resort in Murphy, North Carolina, tucked into the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of Cherokee County.
